A Notary Public is conferred with all the powers of a Commissioner for Taking Affidavits (Commissioner of Oaths’).
Appointment Process
Every barrister or solicitor is automatically authorized to be a Commissioner for Taking Affidavits. A lawyer may, however, be appointed as a Notary Public upon filing an application and remitting an application fee.You may need an affidavit/declaration for legal and official purposes such as:
- To make a claim in a civil/family court.
- Transfer of ownership of a used vehicle in the name of a buyer or some other person within family.
- To apply for a municipal license or to claim an exception to zoning restrictions. NDM law offers Notary Public services where applicable.
